March 20, 2012 we woke up early-ish and checked outside - it was sunnny and clear! Still a bit cold, but that didn't matter because we were going up a mountain covered in snow anyways!

We had breakfast, bought our tickets to the top of
Zugspitze and left to head to the train station. A pretty, short drive away, we boarded the almost hour long cogwheel train ride which would take us to the glacier atop Zugspitze peak - the highest peak in the German Alps!

It was an incredible journey through the snow & mountains, and thankfully the baby slept both ways! At the top we were greeted with this view:

But we still had further up to go!

A short cable car to the top offered a cute cafe, and impeccable sights!

It took the better part of the day, but so worth it. It was really cold up there, but thankfully they had heated indoor spaces so the baby wasn't stuck outside freezing the whole time.
The trip down the mountain was just as beautiful as the one going up. So worth the time it took.

After our excursion up the mountain, we visited Linderhof Palace for Richard to see (See
here and scroll down for some pics of this palace.), and then visited The Church of the Meadows nearby as well. It is a gorgeous little church with incredible artwork and architecture inside!

It was a hectic, whirlwind of a day, but then again, that's the only way we know how to do it!
