Housewifery

This week is my first harsh lesson is housewifery.

Bryce started staying with us Thursday, and he will gracing us with his presence until Friday morning when he leaves us for good. =/ He is a cool guy, so I am not at all bothered by his company. However, I really am noticing how LAZY I am since being home all day. My typical day includes: Wake up late, eat bowl of cereal, sit on computer, eat lunch. Watch tv or sit on computer, talk on the phone, shower, or start laundry or something little like that. 3pm, hubby gets home, he wants to be lazy since he worked all day, so again, watch tv... If we have to go shopping, that's when we'll do it. I'll start dinner around 5-6, depending on if we go out. I'll cook dinner, put dishes away, tidy up the kitchen, and after dinner I crash. Literally... Can't move, I get so tired. (I really hope I don't have gestational diabetes.) I clean whenever I get energetic and feel like cleaning, which usually happens at like 11pm at night, and then I end up going to bed late which puts me sleeping late. LOL. The house is generally clean, laundry is kept up with, and the floors aren't covered is crap. The place is presentable to guests, just mostly small paperwork piles that get away from us. I just simply used to be far more OCD about my dorm room and such... Everything had it's place, and once a week I cleaned the entire room, straightened up all the "clutter" and it almost always looked great.

I have NOT been able to get myself on any sort of weekly or daily "tidying" up schedule, and I know that it would help me SO MUCH. Even making lists of "things to do" each day doesn't work. I will get some things done, but I can't seem to complete an entire list in one day. I know I'm just rather bored being home and with seemingly so much "time" on my hands, I put it off. I hope I get more motivated when the baby comes.

Anyways, with another boy in the house, it's like feeding two teenage boys with endless appetites.  KR's easy - either that or I'm slowly starving him. Bryce eats about twice as much at a meal as KR does, and it always amazed me how much KR ate! We used half of the 4 pound bag of chicken breasts last night. HALF! For 3 people! ...And there's supposed to be 16 servings of chicken in that bag.

That being said, I'm cooking lunches and dinners now, pots & pans are constantly being cleaned b/c I only have a few, and since we have company, I'm more aware of the dust bunnies hiding behind doors. Yesterday, I cleaned the bathroom, did laundry, cleaned the kitchen, swiffer vac'd and swiffer mopped all the floors, cooked lunch... and then I crashed... The boys were confused why I was hiding in our bedroom on the computer... (Because I was so tired I could barely function!) And then no sooner I finish up, Bryce starts cooking dinner. At least he was doing the cooking this time, but I still felt obligated to keep him some company and tidy up while he was cooking. My back was killing me at that point, and I was hobbling around.  Then came the cooking the sides, setting the table, cleaning up table, the pots & pans, and the kitchen. It's no wonder I slept for 10 hours last night and only woke up 3x! This is going to be one hectic week! And through the whole day, all I kept thinking was:

"This is going to be the rest of your life...."

Even if I work, Lord knows I'll still be the one cooking and cleaning up everyday.

How on earth do these OCD women do it?!

Friends.

Every few weeks, we choose a different season to watch since the AFN stations are sorely lacking the majority of the day.  We've watched some shows multiple times, even.  For instance, this is the second time we've watched Friends through since we've been married - although, I'm the one watching more of it than the hubby is.

KR still isn't getting the sleep he needs, although, I did sleep MUCH better last night.  KR is on standby and he spent the majority of the night at work - he left around 830pm and didn't get back until 1245am, and he still had to finish up some stuff before he could go to sleep.  He had to get up at 5am to be at work at 6am.  He got home and went straight to bed... he is being forced to volunteer to take calls/drive drunk people home from 1am - 5am, AND be on standby. Poor guy won't get to sleep tonight, either.

With that, Bryce is out-processing and will be leaving Germany next Friday or Saturday.  His stuff is all gone, so he's spending the weekend and possibly the week at our place. It's great to have some company - it's a little weird when KR isn't here, though. We don't have much food in the house right now, so we decided  to go out to eat! We went to a 50s Diner in K-town because I really wanted steak & shake type chicken strips, and this is what KR suggested.  I don't think any of us were completely satisfied, but it tied us over.  My chicken strips were breaded like schnitzel.  It was served with pommes and sour cream, and salsa. Like, actual Mexican salsa. I also got a milkshake. It was tasty. And now I have lunch for tomorrow.  The boys got burgers, which looked pretty good, too. We desperately need to go shopping so we'll have some stuff in the apartment...

And I'm getting dragged along to country night tomorrow, too, but I'm trying to forget about that fact. It's Bryce's going away/John & Ariel's going away/getting engaged/got hitced party. I can survive horrible country music and attire and annoying drunk people for them right?

And after that, all of our friends will basically be gone. =( I tried to get into a prenatal yoga class... they don't offer one! The only prenatal class they have contained too much cardio for what I feel comfortable doing right now. Plus is was doing the work day, which means I have no hope at getting there since we only have one car and I don't have a license (or want to drive KR to work at 6am, and pick him up at 3pm. I HATE driving... And these German roads scare the shit out of me!)  But we definitely have to get out there and start meeting some people... and I need to get involved in SOMETHING here, soon... We're just at an awkward time... Stuck between single friends and married with kids friends. Kinda strange place to be in... Hah.

I guess I should get heading to bed, as it's 1am. I'm drinking some juice, watching some Friends, then hitting the sack... Maybe I'll play some Bejeweled.. Kinda sorta addicted... Hahaha!

G'nite moon!

Sleep!

...which I'm not getting.

This wouldn't frustrate me as much if I were actually, you know, gigantic of like 8 months preggo.  But last night was TERRIBLE - and to be fair, it wasn't all having to pee.

How my night went:

11pm: Fall asleep
11:58pm: Wake up to pee.
12:02am: Realize the clock said 11pm and not 1am. Fall asleep
2am: Wake up to pee. Frustrated. Go back to bed.
3:30am: Wake up to pee. Uncomfortable. Have a hard time falling asleep.
5am: KR's alarm goes off. Wake up to pee.
5:25am: Drift to sleep. KR's alarm goes off again. He forgot to turn it off. I don't know how to turn it off. I yell, he doesn't hear me. I proceed to yank on alarm clock until it pulls out of the wall, and then throw it on the floor.
5:35am: KR comes in the room to say goodbye. I'm texting T. I say, "I may have killed your alarm clock." "Why?" "Because it started blaring again and I don't know how to turn it off, so I yanked until it shut up." "Ok.... I'm going to work now..."
645am: Still awake. Decide to turn off alarm and screw getting up to wait for FMO people to take furniture.
745am: Wake up to pee. SERIOUSLY. Uncomfortable. Have a hard time falling asleep.
915am: Wake up to pee. AGAIN. Decide FMO people will be there soon. Stay awake like 10-15 minutes, then go back to sleep.
935am: Fall asleep.
940am: Bell rings. FMO people show up. Spend 2 minutes dealing with them. Literally.
945am: Decide to eat some waffles. Then pee.
10am: Fall back asleep.
11am: Bell rings again. I'm confused. I slowly go to the peep hole. Nobody is there. I look outside. I don't see anything. Check the peep hole again. Nothing. THE FIRE ALARM STARTS BLARING. I plug my ears and grumble and swear.
1105am: I sit in bed, type angry facebook statuses, and debate whether or not to try to sleep anymore. Headache starting. Not gonna be a good day.
1110am: Phone rings. Bryce. Answer angrily. End up laughing at how the world didn'tr want me to sleep.

Needless to say, I am freaking exhausted. KR got called into work (he is on standby), and Bryce will be here this weekend b/c he's leaving next week, and the movers took all his stuff already.

Baby has been active today. I'm thinking bowl of cereal, then bed.

PS: Mom says it's not normal to wake up that much to pee... Unless I was a lot further along and baby was, you know, actually big.

Check Ups

Well, another week has absolutely flown by.  One more week closer to all our friends (ok, all 3 of them) leaving us and moving on to their next base.

Wednesday, I had a dentist appointment, and I passed! No cavities, no pregnancy-related gingivitis, thank God! Thursday, we had a little check up for our baby girl.  They don't do much at the appointments, they just listen to the heartbeat, talk to you, and yesterday they measured the size of my uterus. Everything was showing up normal.  I have some awesome tests I get to take soon - the glucose test being soon. Not biggie, drink some sweet stuff, wait an hour, have blood drawn. (Ugh, needles.) Also turns out I am Rh- and apparently, they give the Rhogam shot to every pregnant woman who is Rh- regardless of the hubby's blood type. This is ANOTHER blood test to double check my blood type and make sure no antibodies are floating around - and then a shot at my next appointment. And then yet another needle when I go in for labor. I hear this shot hurts like hell. And I technically don't need it b/c of KR's blood type, so I am torn at what to do. Boo, needles!

I want to get in a yoga class soon. I am sick of being all lazy and such most days of the week. Plus, I have laundry, thank-you's, and a house to keep clean.

I guess I better get on that, then!

Middle of the Night Ramblings

So, it's not the middle of the night, for me at least, but it seems that I always tend to perk up and get pensive at night. My emotions went haywire last night - poor hubby - and Lord knows why that always seems to happen.  Got a million lists I'm constantly working on putting together, and yet they never get anything crossed off of them, LOL. Anyways... I was online last night - looking for some good deals on blackout/thermal curtains (because it gets SO HOT here in the summer with no A/C and given that our apartment is on the fourth floor and portable A/C units can be REALLY pricey here... I will take all the help I can get to keep that heat out!).  This is the time of year for clearance items, and given that the days are already starting to get longer, and both our bedrooms get the morning/day time sunlight, I will invest in blackout curtains to curtail the rising temperatures.

ANYWAYS - so I'm online surfing for some good deals, and I end up catching with a friend from high school that I semi-keep in touch with, but more through facebook/blogging than through instant messages b/c of time differences/work/LIFE in general. It was nice to catch up. She hadn't heard all the drama of my dad, and of course it's a sour subject for me, so KR could tell I was upset but I really didn't want to talk about it out loud for fear of  completely breaking down. Then I ended up excited about some deals I found on curtains. Then I put hubby to sleep after we finished watching Beauty & the Beast, and then I ended up awake until about 3am when I finally stopped surfing the internet looking for stuff we need to buy and could barely move, I was so tired.  I also ended up chatting with another friend LR, but that ended up being more about finances and life than anything too emotional or fun (as with B, might've been emotional at times, but not the whole conversation!). In any case, it really got me thinking about all too much and how... life definitely does not go as planned. And how much that absolutely boggles my mind - and pisses me off, just the same.

I am talking about work, of course. Wa wa, the one place I thought for sure I could work at keeps very, very sick children in the classrooms posing health risks for children and teachers alike.  Obviously, I don't want to put myself or my unborn child at risk for STAFF INFECTIONS, so I guess I won't be working any time soon. But man, that extra money would be amazing... Hah!

All right, hubby's home, time to shift my attention towards my hard worker!

The United States

Ok, so it's safe to say that I have been away from true American soil for a good 7 months now.  And don't get me wrong - I am SO THANKFUL for this opportunity to live abroad and travel.  But with so many of our (ok like the 2 friends we have here) leaving in the next few weeks/months, it's pretty sad to think that we'll be starting all over again.  It's also crazy to think... More than likely, unless God above blesses us with some super cheap airfare and the perfectly timed schedule where we can actually go home sometime this upcoming summer/fall, we will not be returning to the States until we are done here.  That's another year and 4 months.  Not that I'm counting. (Ok, maybe I am. Maybe I just REALLY miss shopping at Target and inside malls, and eating Chick-fil-a and having Starbucks - and doing them all in the same day! Bwaha!)

Some we knew just went back to the states yesterday (Wednesday). It got me thinking...

What am I going to want to do when we first get back stateside?

Shop at certain stores? Eat as certain restaurants? Starbucks? Kiss the ground? I really have no idea how I'm going to react to that... And yet, I already find myself longing for that day - as much as I don't want to blow past the next 1.5 years... I really do miss me some good ol' American culture - as materialistic and pig-headed as some of that may be.

Blah.

Feeling blah today.  I think this being home thing got to me today.  I didn't really have anything to do today - which is basically a lie - but nothing fun, anyways. I've been hungry all day, and pretty drowsy, too. Haven't quite had the energy to do anything, and it's got me in a bad anti-social but craving attention mood. Figures, right? Hub'n got home about an hour late which bummed me out, but really isn't a big deal. Then he napped. I made dinner. Dinner didn't do it for me like I'd hoped; kinda disappointing, so I'll probably be searching for more food here soon. Oh my, I am SO. BORED.

New Year!

The new year has been rather unadventurous so far, but I have been in a good mood and have more energy that I have had in MONTHS. At least for a couple days, now.  It's been wonderful, and I really hope that it keeps up... If it does stay up, I'll likely reapply for my job. But I still have a LOT of hesitations about it right now... Like the fact that I am not technically eligible for maternity leave, and don't know if they'll work with me. And sick children. But who knows what will happen. Got a lot of paperwork organized, and we're starting to get things put together for the baby's room, slowly but surely.  Guess it's time to really get started buying stuff, so managing things are getting better and better (sarcastically, of course).

Oh, my I turned into a lazy, lazy person tonight! Guess I'll get some Christmas cookies and laze around on the couch.  =)
